Tamarack Habilitation Technologies, Inc. has developed new, compact mounting hardware which allows easy, continuously variable adjustment of the dorsiflexion-assist moment. The design allows the practitioner to adjust the assist moments of the 742-L and 742-P dorsiflexion-assist flexure joints to any value from zero to nearly three times what is possible with standard installation.

The continuously variable adjustment opens new opportunities for more precisely choosing and maintaining the optimum orthotic solution as patients progress through the changes typically encountered during pediatric development, post CVA recovery, and other diagnoses where the patient’s condition and needs change with time.

The Tamarack Variable Assist™ allows the moment of dorsiflexion-assist to be adjusted over a continuous range, and reach much greater values than provided by the standard installation.

• Zero turn corresponds to minimum dorsiflexion-assist; any adjustment from this location increases the moment of assist according to the chart above
• Five turns corresponds to a 60 degrees change in the angle of the joint end cap
• All moment values correspond to the assist provided after an initial break-in period of 25 cycles
